ABOUT THE BREED
The Australian Labradoodle breed was initiated in the 1980s by Wally Conran of Royal Guide Dogs in Victoria, Australia. Mr. Conran's intent was to create a breed that was allergy and asthma friendly with the temperament of a service dog. Mr. Conran was inspired by a vision-impaired woman in Hawaii who needed a Guide Dog that didn't aggravate her husband's allergies. Of the 31 Labradoodles bred at Royal Guide Dogs, a staggering 29 made it through as Guide Dogs.
As a breed, Australian Labradoodles are loving, social, highly trainable and excellent companion dogs. Their eagerness to please and smart, soulful nature makes them wonderful for therapy work or a perfect family pet.
